Grandpa Babysat today

So I've just decided to start blogging day to day so that I don't lose track of all the funny stuff...and stinky stuff. Today I had a chiropractor appointment so Dad came to babysit. I wasn't worried about Dana at all. The only thing was....she hadn't pooped yet by the time I was ready to leave. And I don't think Dad has changed a diaper since....1976. Did they make diapers back then? Oh yeah, they were cloth. Something my mother will never let me forget. Anyway, I showed him where everything was just in case and then said a little prayer. Needless to say, Dana pooped right after I left. Thankfully I had called him to tell him to use toys to distract her if she flailed around while he changed her. He said the old cell phone helped.

It's funny that after Karen and I talked about our parents changing diapers that this happened today. Her mom apparently put a diaper on backwards and inside out....poor Nolan. :)

Why is it so hard to leave the house? It's the stress that comes with it. The stress that things aren't going to be done the way that Dana is used to or the way that she wants it to. But what's the worse thing that can happen? She cries? Something that rarely happens. She fakes it more than anything these days to get her way. She'll figure it out one of these days that it doesn't work. But just to go the doctor, I need a babysitter who I can trust will put on a diaper the right way, cook her food correctly, know what she's trying to say in her strange toddler dialect and not worry that I won't be out too long and inconvenience others. This is why I don't get out. This is why I get headaches. Too much stress.

Needless to say, Dad did a great job with her. The were outside most of the time playing with the dog, the dog's bowl and the bubbles. I came home to find her still in her shoes and hat. Wow, was she sweaty. But boy was she happy! He can come babysit ANYTIME! :)
